Fundraising
Fundraising is what JumpMAD is all about, we want the maximum amount of money going to the charities we support and we hope you do too!
Below are some ideas and points about how to fundraise and advertise your Jump to get the maximum amount of sponsorship you can.
- Tell everyone you know about it!
You can do this whenever you talk to someone, via online community websites, emailing your whole contact list, calling family and friends, whatever your imagination can think of! - Be persistant in getting sponsored
People are generally very slow to give others money, don’t feel bad about asking more than once for sponsorship. Remember it’s you AND the charity which gains from your dive. - Get friends and family involved
Everyone does better when they get a bit of help. You can always ask friends and family to take a quick sponsor form around at work or school etc. The more people you have trying to raise money the more you’ll get! - Don't be scared by the numbers
Try not to focus on the minimum required figure. Aim high! You’ll remember this experience forever so you want to be proud about the amount of money you managed to raise. Getting lots of sponsorship is easier than people think if you put some energy into it! - Do some publicity stunts
People have done small, high publicity events to raise awareness about their jumps. These could include anything from waxing or cutting hair, or running to doing just something unusual like showering in baked beans. Strangely enough we’ve found that the more unusual, the more people will sponsor you. If you do it in the name of charity you’d be surprised what people will do! Let your imagination go MAD but please check that it’s ok with anyone in authority first! - Set some times and dates
Plenty of people leave it too long before starting to raise money. Take 5 minutes and write down the day you’ll start raising money and a quick idea of what methods you may use. Start as early as you can!
Please try your level best for the charity you are supporting, don’t settle for the minimum, reach out, really let the charities make a difference by raising everything you possibly can.
If you can think of any ideas or points we haven’t listed here, please contact us so we can pass them on to other fundraisers!
